The What & Why

Challenge Yourself to Create Healthy Habits

The challenge is targeted around creating and sustaining healthy habits (hence, HabitThat). Unlike the 100 squats per day challenges, I am looking to help you–and others–make real and lasting habits to improve your health within the realistic context of your current, busy life.

We are all waiting for the Utopian time when we have all of the time, money, and energy we will ever need to get healthier, but that isn’t realistic! I want people to make it easy for you to join the challenge and take part. With small, steady changes that can be sustained, real, meaningful changes CAN happen! For this 5-week challenge, you’ll be competing for $500 to be donated to the charity of your choice.

Rules & Contest Awards
There will be 5 winners of this challenge! You can compete in any and all categories! The Wildcard winning name will be drawn out of the bucket, any people who have not won in other prize categories are eligible. Once again, for this 5-week challenge, you’ll be competing for $500 to be donated to the charity of your choice. The 5 categories are:

1. Tribal Cheerleader

The winner in his category will be the one who ‘likes’, encourages, and supports his/her tribemates the most as they go through their journey. ‘It takes a village’ and we want our village to be a welcoming, loving, supportive place for making healthy changes. An engaged tribe is a strong tribe!

2. Social Butterfly

Some people are masters of social media! The winner in this category will be the one who shares their journey far and wide so that others may follow their example and feel inspired to start their own journey. This will be tracked by following posts outside the Habit That Tribe page that use the hashtag #HabitThat . Quality AND quantity count! For those who already have groups that follow you, you may include posts to these, just don’t forget to get credit by using the hashtag!

3. Tribal Gatherer

The winner in this category will bring the most people into the challenge so they can join in on the healthy habit changes and supportive atmosphere. But it’s not just about getting lots of people, quality counts here too! We want people in our tribe that are kind, motivated, encouraging, and interested in healthy habits! No one is striving for perfection in the Habit That tribe, we are all busy, real people who want to improve our lives and the lives of others. To get credit for gathering cool people to join, when they email and say “challenge accepted”, they should list who invited them to join.

4. Wildcard Winner

For every post you put within the Habit That group or outside the group (tracked with the #HabitThat hashtag), your name will go in the bucket; there is no limit to how many times your name gets put into the “bucket”. At the end of the challenge, a name will be drawn out of the bucket at random and that person will win money for their favorite charity.

5. Habit Rockstar!

At the end of the contest, post a video about the changes you have made! How you plan to incorporate your new healthy habits into your life for the LONG term, and what you have learned along your journey (good and bad!). This is NOT about pounds lost, it is about healthy habit gain!! Your journey will inspire others and sharing it will help keep you on track as well! Who is going to rock the Rockstar category??
